I want to solo travel, but where do I start?!

So you want to start solo traveling but don’t know where to begin — I got you, friend.
I wasn’t always this adventurous. My family will tell you I used to be shy, quiet, and very much not the “hop on a plane alone” type. College helped me break out of my shell, and becoming a travel nurse pushed me the rest of the way. When you’re moving to a new city every three months, you learn how to make friends, find hobbies, and explore on your own. That lifestyle made the transition into solo travel feel natural.
My biggest piece of advice: start small.
Before you book a flight, ask yourself — have you ever gone out to eat alone? Seen a movie alone? Done anything by yourself for fun? Most people haven’t. So start there. Get comfortable being in your own company.
Once that feels normal, graduate to a domestic solo trip. This is where you’ll learn how to research, plan, and navigate a new place — skills that will carry you when you start traveling internationally.
After that, you’re ready for the world. And you don’t have to go far. Places like Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, or the Caribbean are great first international trips.
Once you get the hang of solo travel, I promise you’ll feel liberated. You’ll realize the world is yours — truly. Have faith in yourself. I know you can do this.
