I want to solo travel, but where do I start?!
So you want to start solo traveling but don’t know where to begin — I got you, friend. I wasn’t always this adventurous. My family will tell you I used to be shy, quiet, and very much not the “hop on a plane alone” type. College helped me break out of my shell, and becoming a travel nurse pushed me the rest of the way. When you’re moving to a new city every three months, you learn how to make friends, find hobbies, and explore on your own. That lifestyle made the transition i

Yona beach club: a floating experience
A floating beach club in Phuket is a must‑see, and Yona Beach Club is more than a beach club — it’s an experience. One perk of being a woman and a solo traveler is their Ladies Pass: $60 USD / 2000 baht, which includes two free drinks. Since I went on a Sunday, the vibe was very DJ‑forward and party‑leaning. Entry didn’t start until 5 PM, and the pools closed for swimming at 7 PM. I’ll be honest — I was a little nervous about going after having a horrible experience at a beac

36 hours in the Philippines??
Fun fact: I currently live on Guam as a travel nurse, which means I’m closer to Asia than I am to the States. So when I saw a quick window to explore, I booked a day-and-a-half trip to Manila — and I’m so glad I did. While I didn’t do much sightseeing, the highlights were worth sharing: Hotel Okura Manila I stayed near the airport (great call, Olivia), and this hotel was giving luxury. Japanese-inspired, sleek, and serene — it felt like a five-star experience for a fraction o

Phi Phi Islands
The infamous Phi Phi Island photos — I couldn’t wait to get to Phuket just so I could finally see them in person. A couple of weeks before my trip, I booked an 8‑hour day tour through Agoda. I was already hesitant since I only had two days in Phuket, but I figured I’d make it work. Then TikTok got me. I came across a video from a Black woman sharing her Phi Phi experience, and the comments were full of people saying, “Don’t book a tour — go on your own.” So I canceled my rese

My final thoughts on Bangkok
Bangkok was everything I didn’t know I needed — chaotic, vibrant, delicious, overwhelming in the best way, and full of moments that reminded me why I love solo travel so much. From the temples (the few I actually made it to), to the cooking class, to the cocktail bars, to the Black‑owned lounge that felt like home, this trip gave me culture, comfort, and a whole lot of stories to bring back with me. Traveling alone at 29, stepping into year 30, and checking off another countr

5 nights in Bangkok- Cocktail bars edition
Cocktail Bars I Loved To know me is to know I love a good dirty martini. I will search high and low for that perfect speakeasy vibe or a bar curated to making the best cocktails. I’m always on the hunt for cocktail bars with ambiance, good music, and bartenders who take their craft seriously. Here are a few spots I visited in Bangkok that I would 100% recommend if you’re a cocktail girlie like me. This post is exclusive to finding that bar that’s for you. Liv‑a‑Little Approve

Solo traveling in Bangkok as a black woman
If you read my bio, then you already know I’m currently 29 — but the gag is… I turn 30 in June. Insert audience booing . What a blessing it is to make it to a new decade though. This year, I decided to make a 30×30 list: 30 new things I want to do before or during year 30. One of the big ones? Visit three new countries. Thailand has ALWAYS been on my list. I love everything Thai — the massages (you need to experience that at least once in your life), the food (mango sticky ri
